Ultrasound is often used to provide deep heating to soft tissue structures in the body. Deep heating tendons, muscles or ligaments increases circulation (blood flow) to those tissues which is thought to increase that tissue’s healing capacity

Ultrasound is also thought to assist the healing process by helping reduce local swelling and chronic inflammation as well as helping decrease localised pain.

A typical ultrasound treatment will take from 3-5 minutes. Some typical conditions treated with ultrasound include tendonitis, non-acute joint swelling, muscle sprains / strains and muscular spasms.

Ultrasound has been shown to be a very gentle and non-invasive form of treatment and has been used extensively world wide by all forms of physical therapists since the 1940's.
